December 30th, 2011We have been contacted by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department regarding a rash of Tavern break-ins ranging from Rhinelander to Antigo. The culprits are looking for cash and are breaking into ATM’s, Video Poker Machines and Cash Registers; breaking windows and doors to gain entry in the early morning hours.
Please remain alert and vigilant. If you have video surveillance, please make sure it is turned on and contact your local Sheriff if you see anything suspicious.

La Crosse Tavern League gives gift to UW-L Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex
December 21st, 2011La Crosse, Wis. — For the fourth year in a row, the La Crosse County Tavern League is ending the year with a donation to the UW-La Crosse Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The group of local small business owners has made a year-end gift of $2,500 to the UW-L Foundation to recognize veterans and further support the new athletic complex. The gift could end up doubling — it qualifies to be matched with $1,500 from the Tavern League of Wisconsin and $1,000 from the 3rd District Tavern League.
Along with hosting the WIAA State High School Track and Field Tournament, the new facility, with its Veterans Hall of Honor, is quickly becoming a magnet that draws more fans and visitors to new and long-standing events.
Along with these gifts, the La Crosse County Tavern League supports the campus and its students in many other ways, says Al Trapp, President of the UW-L Foundation. Among the support: contributions to Operation River Watch and efforts to provide safe transportation between campus and downtown.
“The Tavern League is made up of concerned, responsible business people who care about the community and their customers,” notes Trapp. “The Foundation is happy to work with the League to share its commitment to the sports complex that continues to grow as a wonderful campus and community asset.”
