Thursday, January 24th, 2008Today the Assembly passed SB116 unanimously. SB116 increases penalties for repeated OWI offenses. The Tavern League lobbied to attach an amendment to the bill to increase the assessment on OWIs to fund the SafeRide program. The assessment will change from $5 to $14.24 per OWI conviction. The bill already passed the Senate and is now awaiting the Governor’s signature.
Senator Sullivan (D), Wauwatosa and Representative Staskunas (D), West Allis are the authors of the bill.
