Governor Walker signed SB23 into law today. The bill was in response to the Milwaukee Sick Leave Ordinance. No municipality may pass their own regulations on employment leave different than the state. “This law removes another barrier in the road to creating 250,000 private sector jobs by 2015,” Governor Walker said. “Patchwork government mandates stifle job creation and economic opportunity. This law gives employers the flexibility they need to put people back to work and that makes Wisconsin
a more attractive place to do business. I thank Senator Leah Vukmir and Representative Chris Kapenga for their leadership on this bipartisan issue.”
SB-23. Employment Leave. (Vukmir) Preemption of city, village, town or county ordinances requiring employers to provide employees with leave from employment to deal with family, medical, or health issues. Act 16.
